When The Angels Cry For Us

What About Angels?

*** How do we look to outside observers as we live our lives, especially those of us who do not grow, re-think our approach and change from our experiences?

A lot of humanity spends a lot of time agonizing over "what other people think" about them. What if we are observed by what we cannot physically see yet sense on a deeper level?

What if angels are real and just exist in a veiled close dimension of time but not our exact time and space? How do you think they perceive our daily lives and choices?

Forever playing the "what if?" game and other virtually useless mind wanderings came the following poem concerning humanity's free will.  How many people have you observed who, sadly, live like this?

When The Angels Cry For Us

When the light dims and cools to lunar blue

The Angels are crying with saddest sorrow

Unnoticed, standing off to the side of our lives

They watch and wait; they wait and watch: wondering

Patient upon free will acting, choosing, losing

A lonely soul, so weary of feeling alone, reaches out

This lonely soul rushes forward without consideration

Having chanced upon a mirrored self reflecting

The lonely soul quickly attaches its desire to the other

Wishing, hoping, nurturing fantasy into reality

That strangely never comes, breathes no life

Disillusionment arrives to that lonely soul

As reality too soon reveals the unwelcome sight of

Beauty turned inside out, surprised ugliness unexpected

A sudden gust of wind comes and the fantasy bursts

Like a mirror it lies upon the ground shattered

The pieces of glass like the relationship: sharp, ragged

Illusion and one-sided was the pairing

Two who could never become one whole

No relationship exists with only one engaged

Downcast, sad, unrepentant, refusing Truth

The lonely soul rushes on without consideration

Seeking another mirrored self reflecting

The Angels mourn for the lonely reaching soul

Who remains unseen, unloved, overlooked

Acting, choosing, losing, frantically re-cycled

When the light dims all around us

And the air cools to midnight lunar blue

The Angels are mourning love unfound, unfulfilled

The Angels wonder: Will the process cease and die?

Will the lonely soul ever quit chasing their reflection?

Denny, this is an interesting poem. I've never thought about writing a poem about an angel before, and you have come up with some great lines. BTW, have you tried highlighting your poem and using header4 in the pull-down format menu in edit mode? It helps to bunch the lines up better in poems. I had a lot of trouble with mine to begin with, and Paraglider suggested I try this and it worked!

Hi, Amanda, oooooh, thank you, fab artist to the rescue! It's been bugging the daylights out of me, will get right on it! You're a love!

*** literally 5 seconds later: wow! so easy! though it does change the font style but otherwise definitely a better idea for stanza control, thanks, Amazing Amanda! :)

Love this poem... it's beautiful. It seems like you spent quite some time thinking about each line because it flows really well.

Great insight! Angels are patiently waiting to be sent out on asignments for us through our prayers and our love for God. Thanks

Hi, foxility, thanks for stopping by! I usually do spend some "think time" on most of my writes as I find it's always good to go back for revision.  A lot of people write a poem and think that's enough but if they would just sit on it for a day or two and re-phrase it in their head then they would realize it needed revision.

Most writers go thru a few drafts before finalizing their work, especially poetry.  This one went thru about 8 revisions before I settled on this one.  I have a poet friend who revises his work for years on end and each one is better than the last!  I usually know when my writes are finally cooked and can't progress. :)

I see a lot of poems on the web that look like first draft but the author doesn't realize it.  It's sad because a lot of people have so much to say and can say it well but won't be accepted for publishing because they don't realize to do more editing and revision.

There is something beautiful about living your life as a witness to others - even if an angel.

Hi, Missred, thanks for your visit!  For me angels are very much a reality (check out my Dreaming Words poem) but I know for many others it is not yet a reality so I took the "what if?" posture so they could entertain the idea and wonder along with me without feeling pressured.  Nice to see you are another angel friend!

Hi, CherylAnne, thank you for your lovely compliment and your visit!

BTW, everyone, I'm on Facebook too if you would like to join my ever-growing gang of friends.  Lots of people I knew on CM have jumped over to Facebook and what fun it is to see them all as they are an active bunch!  Classmates was an annoyingly slow site but Facebook is a zippy place! yay!

Hi, Mighty Mom, thanks for visiting! When I wrote this poem it was after months of witnessing a friend on this decades long relationship hamster track of always trying to force a square peg into a round hole.  Some things are just not a fit and no amount of fantasy writing in their head is going to change that.

It was painful to witness especially when trying to gently steer her into a more profitable direction to actually achieve what she so desperately desires.  Unfortunately, it's more about changing others rather than growing the self first.  So, wrote the poem in the hopes that others who are suffering the same as my friend might recognize themselves and realize to stop long enough to assess their situation and start with more positive course corrections - and take the time also to separate illusion from reality.

Angels love to rejoice with us too!  They are loving spirits in action who go the distance for us, giving us the energy of awareness of how to help ourselves since rarely are they allowed to physically intervene and do things for us.  People often block that subtle but intense energy and then wonder why they are depressed or agitated and confused, unable to solve their problems.

Thanks for the lovely compliment, MM!  Do you also write poetry? I bet you have a lot in you as you were a DJ and certainly have the music in you.  "Show me the poetry, girl!" :)

Hi, Denny,

What a beautiful poem! So beautiful and well said.

By the way, I believe with every fiber of me that angels ARE real. I don't believe we die and "become an angel," but rather that angels are special beings, a special specie who reside here and very close to God.

I collect angels: I also carry my angel worry stones with me! I'm sending you a link to photos of my front doorway where many of my angels live!!

Hi, laringo, it's interesting to note how much people think they are alone when nothing could be further from the truth. We are all connected thru a Divine connection whether we accept or access it or not. Angels are an interesting group of people, similar but not exactly the same as us and certainly have a tough assignment in assisting humanity!

Thank you for visiting me, come by any time!

Hi, G-Ma Merle Ann, you are a love! You sure make your rounds on HP as I see you commenting everywhere - what a busy woman you are and quite stellar yourself! Thanks for your gracious visit too.

Group hug, everyone! And peace, Happy Valentines Day to all my new lovely friends on HP!
