Seven Illustrated Quotes: Art and Writing
72Quotations excite the mind and inspire the heart!
Creativity
The Creativity buzz has been running rampant up and down the halls of my house of late. One cool idea begets yet another. A seventh blog has been created as a place to house all those wonderful quotations we writers adore. (Beautiful Illustrated Quotations)
Quotations
As I scoured the web for yet more quotes like any good quotation junkie I was struck with how the sites displayed as visually dull and uninspiring. Quotations excite the mind and inspire the heart! “Where are those images to enhance their meaning?” I asked inside my own mind.
So, “Hold onto your hat!” as the saying goes to explain a whirlwind on the way, whether figuratively or real weather, this visual quotation hub looks like it will turn into a series!
Painting and Poetry
I’m rather partial to painting and poetry. There are not as many of this type of quote floating around in cyberspace. This is the now decided beginning point for a different style of presenting awesome quotations.
Now that I’ve built you up let’s hope you are not disappointed…
Featured persons are: Leonardo Da Vinci, Henry Ward Beecher, Marcel Proust, Dorothea Lange, Louis Nizer, David Deida and Dame Edna Everage.
Artist vs. Technician
What they all discuss deeply is the artist vs. a technician. Many people can master a technique yet lack originality. Why not? Because they have not dug down deeply enough inside themselves to the heart level. Too many people are afraid of what they will find.
Writing Poetry
Some writers think it’s wrong to journal sad poetry. My attitude? Live out loud, people! Human beings experience a full range of emotions; express them all. Just try not to get stuck in one emotion for too long a period as it can stifle your creativity.
All of these quoted talk about how to see the world and the self with new eyes. Those new eyes become engaged to the Creativity Muse. Art is born!
My Muse Guy
Before I leave you for the visual treat below, here is one of my recently posted poems to consider in harmony with this piece. For the jaded writers out there just think of this as filler so HubPages will be satisfied this hub contains enough words!
For those who normally would not go to read a poem perhaps it will be more simpatico paired with these quotes about art and writing. Hopefully, everything here will help jumpstart your creativity or gently nudge you past some writer’s block.
This little poem has a touch of humor in keeping with the other voices quoted. My muse guy is quite noisy and insistent, a real slave driver at times. Some of you can identify for sure!
Dreaming Words
Warm comfortable drifting
Toggling between this waking world
And the world of dreams symbolic
Sheets, those delicious summer skimmers
Glide as bodies turn side to side in repose
Gently
Quietly
Softly the growing silence
Easily falling down to fade
*Wake up!*
Comes an unwelcome startling voice
Eyes closed
Face grimaces a frown
*Wake up!* voice insistent, repeats
Ascending the dark stairway of knowledge
Rubbing my inner mind's eye
Flinging open the huge door to light
Asking *What?!*
About to fall teetering backward
Into the comforting quiet dark
*What?!*
*Write it down*
*Now? It's the middle of the night!*
Aware it's a losing battle
Dutifully returning to the waking world of dark
Reaching out, fingers fumbling for bedside notebook and pen
Scribbling on lines overrun from hands half asleep
Too large is the messy handwriting
Next morning tough to decipher
Words tumble down onto paper out of the inner dark
That vast library of knowledge, universal to all
Opening the heavy tall thick door
Written words enter, marching out onto now
The waking world bathed still in eerie moonlight
Fulfilled the bleary-eyed scribe's task
Tumble backward to welcoming sleep
Covers pulled high over weary, oh, so tired, body
Descending the long narrow stairway
Down
Deeper
Arrived
The loving library of inner knowledge
Infinity to yet explore
Artifacts of knowing to drag home
And leave quietly on some welcoming doorstep
Dip your imagination into this landscape!
From: Henry Ward Beecher
Every artist dips his brush
in his own soul,
and paints his own nature
into his pictures.
Can you see through glass in a painterly way?
Black and white images are their own poetry
From: Leonardo Da Vinci
Painting is poetry
that is seen
rather than felt,
and poetry
is painting
that is felt
rather than seen.
Fisherman in China against backdrop of low moon
Let your thoughts ascend
From: Marcel Proust
The real voyage of discovery consists
not in seeking new lands
but seeing with new eyes.
Squinting to see better into the far distance
Hold all my calls! You asked for it! :)
From: Dame Edna Everage
Never be afraid to laugh at yourself,
after all,
you could be missing out on
the joke of the century.
Now that's a real belly laugh!
Fire in the sky with cross
From: Dorothea Lange
The camera is an instrument
that teaches people
how to see
without
a
camera.
Cosmic imagination
Where leaders of our ancient past sought wisdom, Pantheon, Rome, Italy
From: Louis Nizer
A man who works with his hands is a laborer;
a man who works with his hands
and his mind
is a craftsman;
and,
a man who works with his hands,
his mind
and his heart
is an artist.
Parking our thoughts off the cosmic ocean
Ocean meditation
From: David Deida
Everything you experience
and do in your life
is like a ripple
on the surface
of a boundless openness
of who you are.

lovely hub thanks!
Love your pictures. Absolutely wonderful!
loved it too...the black and white "Images are their own poetry" was my favorite...and you poem was good too...reminds me of myself...I wake up at weird hours with a poem running through my foggy sleepie head and it sounds so good to me...I try to write it down from the light of the t.v. (yes I have one in my bedroom) AND FEEL SATISFIED I GOT IT. (the poem I mean) to wake up and can't even find the paper... lost and crumbled in my bed...Nice job my dear...G-Ma :o) Hugs & Peace
I thought the solar winds pic was extrememly interesting. Did anyone else notice it's resemblance to an angel surrounding the Earth? The heron pic was beautiful, as were each of the other's in their own way.
I also love quotes and have a small collection of them. I really like these lines "The loving library of inner knowledge Infinity to yet explore" it is so true there is so much wisdom within us yet to be discovered. I also liked the Da Vinci quote about poetry and painting. That Chinese fisherman image was spell bounding. Thumbs up for a fantastic hub.
Great Hub, great images, geat words. Thanks Denny!
Love and peace,
Tony
What a beautiful hub :) Awesome job..
Ok. I didn't know I was in the presence of a master! Hey, we kind of did the same thing up there, with the voice and the talking back. OOOOoooooOOOOoooo. Your talent is off the charts. Thanks for putting me on your poetry blog, I left a comment there too, but it's a great site. You must write non-stop to put out such a volume of high quality work!
I'm going to check out all of your blogs. I'll be linking to you to on my blog next time I go there (maybe tonight) but I wan't to check out your other blogs too.
There's so much more to say about this hub. It's great. Great quotes, great photo's, great, great, great!
P.S. When I found out you were a girl, your grade went up.
Nice pictures,Thanks for sharing
nice hub, i really liked your quote about artist vs technician, i find myself on this journey now to find to develop the 'artist' part more. Thank you!

Wow! What a great hub, Denny. Thanks. I loved the poem, especially the image of the "bleary eyed scribe". And the pic/quotes section is outa sight. Great job. Keep em comin'!
